Books: The Cats of Tanglewood Forest & A Circle of Cats

1/1/2020

Illustrations in this post by Charles Vess.

Not long ago I read a children’s book which I really enjoyed. It’s titled The Cats of Tanglewood Forest and it’s written by Charles de Lint and illustrated by his friend Charles Vess. I won’t spoil the story for those who plan on reading it, but I will say that, if you love cats, nature and fantasy, you’ll enjoy the book. It’s a really fun and entertaining read; I recommend it for all ages.

Another beauty about it is that it’s lavishly illustrated, a total of 75 to 79 illustrations, including the cover.

This story was originally published, in a super short version, in the children’s picture book A Circle of Cats, also by de Lint and Vess. I enjoyed this read as well.

If you’re an art fan, these two books are worth purchasing just for the illustrations, though you’ll enjoy them much more by reading them and not spoiling the story. Very best, HAPPY NEW YEAR, and happy reading.
